A Stalker's Identity by Vasilis-Moustakis
A Stalker's Identity
Written by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky and published in 1971, this science fiction novella set the very foundations of the Stalker universe itself.
In 1979, Stalker, a movie loosely based on the book was released on the silver screen, filmed by Andrei Tarkovsky.
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game series followed, with Shadow of Chernobyl as the first release in 2007, Clear Sky in 2008 and Call of Pripyat in 2010.

As you can imagine, my experience in this universe started by playing the games.
After that, the film followed. A film I had to watch twice and get something more out of it.
And last but not least, I managed to read the book that started all of this.

When I started looking for the book, I was already in the army for my military obligations towards my country.
So I did not have any means to order it and have it in my hands.
Then I stumbled upon a PDF version I found online and printed it in this tiny A6 size version you see here.
Tiny book, with even smaller letters, but it was the ideal size to fit in my uniform's pocket at all times.
I read it for the first time in the army, and I read it one more time after that. It got pretty beaten up, to tell you the truth.
I will surely have the original book someday, but this little book I got here will always be my favorite version.

Here are some of the props I made / make recently.

A double-barrel BB shotgun, painted to represent a bandit leader's weapon of choice, carrying the faction's crest
A self-made gas mask with a filter
A pistol magazine made by a ccan of beer with batteries for bullets (an idea for carrying batteries in my Stalker bag)
A small artifact container made out of a broken DVD drive
A Skull artifact
An artifact yet unknown

It has been a long time since I uploaded any of my work, and same goes for my journal. So it seems like a good time to write down some thoughts, tell you how I'm doing and say "Hi".
I would love to have some free time to enjoy my bursts of creativity, but such is life, and now I have something different to keep me busy;
I have joined the Hellenic Armed Forces, to fulfill my duty as a soldier for 9 months.
I already joined the army on March 10th at Thebes, and after 1 month and 2 weeks I enjoy my days off before I move back to my unit at Orestiada, North-Eastern Greece.
The location is near the borders of Bulgaria and Turkey, so it's totally at the country's end.
Keeping in mind that I live in Corfu, the distance is quite a trouble; but being a soldier does not go well with staying home, does it.
Things seem quite alright and I have the good feeling that the nine months will pass quite nicely; Keeping my MP3 and a couple of books with me proved to be a good company during the hours of silence. Along with the books "Bloody Shields" and the "Warrior of Sparta", I decided to print the "Roadside Picnic" in A6 size to keep me company as well; I just can't wait to read it!
Other than that, I wish for good companionship, plenty of target practice and a duty fulfilled without a problem.
As for you, I wish you happy Easter, enjoy your holidays and take care of yourselves.
